At the beginning of the video someone in the audience reminds Dave Kirchgessner how old he is… And by extension most of their fans. I saw them live at a 3rd Wave Ska festival in the late 90s. I still own one of their t-shirt. (I doubt it fits)

The positive side of me want’s to believe Microsoft is doing this to provide TikTok with a corporate ally in the United States.

However, given that an acquisition couldn’t possibly happen before November 3rd I suspect this is about data mining a popular platform, similar to what we’ve seen them do by absorbing LinkedIn and Lynda.com
